I want to thank you and your ensemble for your thought-provoking performance in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.   Your vignettes depicting past civil rights injustices, historical fact, and current black community problems,
did indeed "educate while entertaining" the audience.
Your words are strong and powerful, poetry of beauty with a message so vital to all Americans.  While we have had
other groups perform on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, your cast was able to unite all ethnicities in the fight
toward realization of Dr. King's dream.   All of us should demand decent housing, wages, and education, but not
through the power of the fist, but through the power of the vote and community action.

I'm sure that those who witnessed the presentation are still "rewinding" the scenes and spoken word .

I arranged for a stage performance by an African American theater company called Too Deep Entertainment.
They are based in Albany, NY. TDE staged a show that combined drama, music, poetry and spoken word.
Their vignettes and poetry covered topics ranging from personal responsibility, HIV/AIDS and respect for
women to slavery and drug abuse as well as education. With terrific acting and presentation along with lights,
video and music the group held the attention of our two hundred, fifty-plus students and staff for over two
hours in back to back performances.

It was a marvelous experience that emphasized positive message  with the momentum of an MTV video. Our
kids went away from the show wanting to be involved…which is exactly what we were hoping! As for staff,
one of our senior counselors who has been at Berkshire for over twenty years thanked me for bringing TDE to
campus and remarked that it was the best show he had ever seen here. Three of our psychologists who had to
leave halfway through the first show for a clinical meeting hurried back to see the end of the second show.
Positive reviews all the way around!
